Treatment Approach
Saiyuri takes a holistic approach to mental health, incorporating breathwork practices to help clients reconnect their mind and body and regulate their nervous system. She advocates for nurturing both mind and body through practices like yoga, strength training, meditation, and balanced nutrition. Saiyuri encourages clients to develop a deep awareness of their bodily experiences and the mutual influence between body and mind, fostering a more integrated approach to well-being.
Growing up in South Africa, moving abroad, and navigating life as a “third culture kid” from an ethnic minority background, Saiyuri has firsthand experience with social injustices and understands the impact of culture on mental health. For clients who have felt misunderstood or “othered,” her personal awareness and experience can offer a meaningful sense of connection and understanding. She offers a warm, non-judgmental and confidential space. Saiyuri believes that being genuine and authentic within the therapeutic relationship is essential, as a strong bond between client and therapist is vital for promoting personal growth. She understands that you may feel worried or nervous to begin therapy and strives to create a safe, welcoming space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace.
Initial Session
The aim of the first session is to establish a collaborative foundation between Saiyuri and the client, exploring how they can effectively work together and what future sessions may involve. This session will be structured, with Saiyuri asking questions to understand what brings you to therapy, the challenges you are facing, and relevant aspects of your personal history, such as your childhood and support system. You’ll also have the opportunity to discuss any goals you may wish to work toward. Additionally, the first session will cover essential topics like confidentiality and the therapy contract, ensuring that Saiyuri can address any questions or concerns you might have.
