Marios focuses on areas such as limerence, depression, anxiety (including social), self-esteem, issues with motivation/procrastination, and limiting self-beliefs. Limerence is an under-researched topic, and it’s complicated to deal with. Marios has worked with countless clients on this topic, finding that an integrative approach utilising techniques based on the situation works best. Often, holistic attention to the person suffering and their life circumstances is required.
As a therapist, Marios’ interests focus on exploring narrative through psychodynamic, schema, and humanistic approaches. For some clients, the practical, grounding nature of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques proves useful and is employed from time to time. Marios believes that traversing multiple layers of meaning and depth is a powerful way to work through problems and connect with one’s unconscious processes and ideals.
Marios holds that talk without action is merely talk, and behaviour without meaning has no destination. The client is the source of truth and solutions to their problems, and taking this approach is appropriate, relying on a client’s self-knowledge and intuition, matched with a willingness to experiment and persist with positive habits.
Marios is undertaking a Doctor of Psychology course in Counselling Psychology at City, University of London as of September 2023. Marios holds a Master of Science degree in Psychology from Birkbeck, University of London, and a Counselling Skills Training certificate from the Private Therapy Clinic in London, having graduated from Birkbeck in 2020 achieving distinction overall as well as for the research project based on the genetic basis of anxiety, depression, and loneliness in the context of neuroticism scores.
Marios has always been drawn to literature around personal transformation, habits, productivity, and self-exploration. Marios is comfortable discussing issues around identity, sexuality, belonging, race, and living through cultures that may be hostile due to who one is.
