What is a QbCheck?
The QbCheck (or QbTest) is a computerized assessment tool for individuals who think they may have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). It is designed to help individuals identify the symptoms of ADHD that they may be experiencing and to determine if they should seek a formal evaluation for the condition. The QbCheck consists of a series of tasks regarding common symptoms of ADHD, such as difficulty paying attention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity.

What is the difference between a QbCheck and a QbTest?
It was actually derived from the QbTest. The QbTest is a computerized assessment, using a high-resolution motion tracking system to measure inattention and impulsivity to provide an objective measure of these variables. The QbCheck is a similar online assessment, but is designed for use in a home or school setting. It uses a computer’s built-in webcam to track activity, rather than a more advanced motion tracking system. Studies have shown that this check is equivalent to the QbTest in detecting symptoms of ADHD.
-
How reliable is the QbCheck?
The QbCheck is an additional diagnostic tool as part of a wider ADHD diagnosis. A positive result on the QbCheck does not mean that an individual has ADHD. It is not a diagnostic tool, and a positive result on the QbCheck does not mean that an individual has ADHD. A proper diagnosis of ADHD should be made by a psychologist or psychiatrist after a comprehensive evaluation. Saying this, studies have shown it has high validity when used to distinguish between those with ADHD and those without, and also distinguishing ADHD from other similar disorders.

How does the QbCheck work?
As mentioned previously, the check is conducted through a computerized assessment lasting 15 to 20 minutes. The test equipment consists of a PC or Mac with a webcam and is not dependent on language, reading, or mathematical skills. The person who will set up the test will make sure that:
- There are no distractions around you
- Any windows and blinds are closed
- Any electronic devices nearby are switched off
- People in close proximity to the test room to remain quiet
During the test, a number of symbols are shown on the computer screen. The task is to push the space bar when a certain symbol appears on the screen.

Who is the QbCheck for?
Anyone ages 6 to 60 can undergo a QbCheck.
There are a couple of different situations in which a QbCheck might be used:
- As a screening tool: A QbCheck may be used to quickly and easily screen individuals who may have ADHD. This can be especially useful for individuals who are hesitant to seek a formal evaluation, or for those who do not have access to these types of services in their area.
- As a supplement to a comprehensive evaluation: The check may be used as part of a comprehensive evaluation for ADHD. This can help psychologists or psychiatrists gather more information about the individual’s symptoms and determine the best course of treatment.
