Dr. Vjosa (pronounced Vee●Yo●Sa) is a qualified Counselling Psychologist who offers a warm, collaborative, and secure environment. She helps clients achieve self-understanding, leading to improved responses to situations and overall wellbeing. Her goal is to guide you towards freedom, peace, and harmony. Dr. Vjosa recognises that psychological distress is, on some occasions, amplified by a clients’ stressful environment (i.e. employers and universities) and may go beyond your therapy session to communicating directly with third parties (with your consent) to help you to get to a place where you feel life is manageable. In addition to this, Dr. Vjosa will provide you with tools to help you navigate difficulties you present with in therapy. After the initial assessment period, Vjosa will discuss with you a ‘road map’ of where you will both go in therapy; this will be reviewed through your journey right up until desired outcomes are reached. Your ending will then be discussed, planned and prepared for.
Dr. Vjosa has experience on a range of difficulties including (but not limited to): Depression, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism, navigating relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), social anxiety, health anxiety, bereavement (grief), sexual abuse and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Dr. Vjosa can also help you process:
Dr. Vjosa is professionally trained to make sense of emotional pain and implement psychological change using evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person-centred AND Psychodynamic therapy.
Dr. Vjosa has experience working with adults, children, families and couples.
If you choose Dr. Vjosa Hyseni as your therapist or are recommended by the admin team, the initial assessment can be conducted online or face-to-face at Wigmore Street, her typical location. During the assessment, Dr. Vjosa will introduce herself, explain therapy terms and conditions, and invite you to share your concerns in a safe and non-judgmental space. She understands that therapy is sought during painful and challenging experiences and will work at your comfortable pace.
Dr. Vjosa is professionally trained to understand emotional pain and implement evidence-based psychological change. After an initial assessment, she develops a clinical formulation based on psychological theory to explain your difficulties and their underlying maintenance. These formulations, often presented visually, also factor any underlying assumptions you may have, and difficulties that might have occurred in your interactions with others and in certain situations. Typically, our assumptions are influenced from past experiences, which may be painful and evoke a range of emotions, including shame, anxiety and low mood. Dr.Vjosa’s non-judgmental and empathic stance creates a safe space for sharing painful memories.
After completing her professional doctorate, Dr. Vjosa Hyseni pursued additional training to enhance clinical work. She can now provide medico-legal reports for family, civil, and criminal courts, as well as conduct ADOS-2 (Autism) assessments for all age ranges. The assessments will be followed by comprehensive reports indicating scores and clinical interpretation.
