View Professional InsuranceVasiliki Gkofa is a Psychological Counsellor and has had experience both in the private and public sector. Vasiliki is also an Assistant Psychologist in the NHS, which has provided tremendous experience in working with individuals of various age groups, suffering from different disorders such as Depression, Social Anxiety, Health Anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and so forth. Vasiliki uses Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) techniques. CBT is a therapeutic approach focusing on the here and now aiming to address the ongoing issue. Cognitive thoughts can impact one’s emotional state which can consequently influence behavioural and physiological responses. Vasiliki will try to break this cycle through discovery and try to replace any maladaptive thoughts with more positive thinking patterns.
Vasiliki Gkofa views therapy as a two-way street as she understands that the therapist-client relationship is a reciprocal one, since both can learn from the therapeutic experience. Vasiliki appreciates that coming to therapy and opening-up to someone is quite challenging and therefore she always tries to make everyone feel comfortable in a confidential, non-judgmental environment.
The initial session is an opportunity for the therapist and the client to get to know each other, build a rapport and set achievable goals. Vasiliki will try to address specific difficulties and concerns aiming to create a therapeutic plan. Take away exercises might also be introduced in the following sessions, as Vasiliki always tries to assist individuals in reaching their goals. Vasiliki is also open in receiving feedback and hearing the client’s opinion about the therapeutic journey, as she understands that there is always room for improvement.
Vasiliki Gkofa is a Clinical Psychology graduate currently undertaking her MSc in Clinical Neuropsychiatry at King’s College London. Vasiliki is aiming to continue towards the clinical path and pursue her Clinical Doctorate. Due to her high research skills, Vasiliki always tries to provide the best possible treatment, appreciating that everyone has individual differences, which make them unique. Vasiliki also attends group supervision as well as one to one supervision sessions with Dr. Shirin Shams and Dr. Daniela Rossi, which expand her knowledge and strengthen her therapeutic skills even further.
Vasiliki Gkofa is bilingual and can provide treatment in Greek.
