What is executive coaching?
At Private Therapy Clinic, we offer executive coaching services to support individuals’ professional growth and development. It is a personalized, goal-centered approach, designed to foster rapid development for high-achieving professionals in the workplace. Providing a structured and supportive environment can enable professionals to identify their strengths and areas of improvement, refine their decision-making abilities, and develop the interpersonal skills necessary to drive their success.
Executive coaching draws from numerous psychological models, particularly the transtheoretical model of change and solution-focused therapy. As such, it is a treatment that is largely goal based and focused on the present. Additionally, executive coaching can draw from cognitive-behavioural therapy, as it centres on the cognitive processes which guide an individual’s actions, as well as hypnosis in order to promote visualisation of a desired future.

Who is it helpful for?
Executive coaching is typically used by senior professionals in a company, such as:
Founders
Chief officers (e.g. CEO, COO, CFO, etc)
Presidents
Managers
DirectorsHowever, anyone can benefit from executive coaching, as it promotes transferable skills not limited to managerial or senior decision-making roles. It can also have a positive knock-on effect on an individual’s personal life, as they can be more efficient in attaining work-life balance, and prioritising time off to avoid burnout.

What does a session look like?
An executive coaching session can differ depending on whether it is the beginning, middle, or end of treatment, and how long an individual intends to do the coaching. A beginning session will establish a contract between the client and coach, and look to answer the following questions:
- What are your expectations for coaching?
- What are the commitments you will make for this experience?
- What support and challenges do you want from the coach?
- How much do you want the coach to push you?
- Do you want the coach to feedback regularly?
It is considered a symbiotic relationship, where the coach and client work together in order to establish goals, and what are the small steps necessary to achieve these goals. Toward the end of each session, the coach will identify key insights and discuss how these can be translated back into the client’s workplace. Occasionally, particularly if the client’s company has funded the treatment, the session may include the client’s line manager in order to optimise goal attainment.

What are the benefits to an organisation?
Executive coaching is helpful not only for the individual but also holds benefits at an organisational level. It empowers professionals to cultivate their relational skills, which in turn positively influences the emotions and performance of employees.
