Bulimia Nervosa (generally known as Bulimia) is an eating disorder which involves episodes of consuming large quantities of food (food binges) followed by purges. These purges are behaviours such as vomiting, using laxatives, excessive exercise or fasting which aim to prevent any subsequent weight gain. During a binge a person may feel very out of control of their eating and may eat well past the point where they would normally feel full.

CAN YOU TREAT BULIMIA?
Bulimia is a highly complex eating disorder and it’s not as simple as encouraging a more positive relationship with food. It’s estimated that over 1.6 million people in the UK suffer from some form of eating disorder and it can have a hugely destructive impact on other aspects of your life. Our aim is to guide you through your personal bulimia battle.
Typically, eating disorders stem from other emotional issues and this is factored into our treatment plan for every patient suffering with bulimia. The result is a comprehensive service that helps people find a better outlet for their emotions and create better eating habits.
We deliver first rate clinical and counselling psychologists that can help each patient that has been struggling with their emotions and behaviours get back on the right track. We understand that every issue is personal, taking this into consideration when we craft your treatment plan. Treatment could include cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, eye movement desensitisation reprocessing, and more.
With a blend of treatment options available to choose from, we’re able to expertly match each bulimia sufferer with a plan that will address their issues, allowing for more effective results. Usually, we organise a year of treatment for those with eating disorders, allowing for a complete plan to be developed reflecting the different stages that you’ll experience.
