Dilek Aygun is a Psychological Counsellor and EMDR practitioner. She works with a wide range of psychological problems and with people of different ages and backgrounds. She offers individually tailored approaches such as Psychodynamic Therapyand Cognitive Behavioural Therapy depending on the client’s presenting problem.
Dilek is skilled in working on a wide range of difficulties including Depression, Anxiety, Social phobia, Panic, Low self-esteem, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) with a special interest in Trauma and Attachment related difficulties. She has received a substantial amount of training over the years to work with traumatised clients from a single traumatic event to repeated (complex) trauma.
She also works with individuals whose emotional needs haven’t been met when younger and individuals who have been neglected in a way that they find it difficult to form healthy intimate relationships at present. She provides a supportive environment that allows you to talk about your problems openly without feeling judged or overwhelmed. She will work with you collaboratively to identify behavioural and cognitive patterns that are preventing you from feeling your best, she will teach you skills to help bring a positive change and make meaning to your life.
When she work with her clients, she uses research-proven principles and observation to accurately assess psychological disorders and establish a diagnostic, plan treatment and collaboratively sets goals for your therapy, with consideration towards your unique objectives.
Ever since Dilek became involved in psychological therapy, she always kept up to date with current legislation and has continuously demonstrated that she always aims to deliver the highest, most effective and acceptable, quality treatment and care possible and she practices evidenced based techniques where possible.

It never occurred to me I would benefit from support for mental health issues as I’ve always considered myself as “level-headed”. I was very wrong and I let things get far too bad before seeking help. Dilek has been incredible. Her way of telling me back things I told her but with a positive, reasonable slant on it has allowed me to see things differently and far more calmly. My sleep has improved, my anxiety has reduced dramatically and, when it does start to rear its ugly head, I have tools Dilek has given me to deal with it and move on. I started out unsure whether therapy would work but I am hugely grateful that Dilek has proved me very wrong. I can thoroughly recommend her.
