Avesta is a psychological counsellor and psychology graduate currently in her final year on the Doctorate course for Counselling Psychology. Avesta has had experience working with clients suffering from several psychological difficulties such as traumatic experiences, anxiety and depression using various psychological approaches. Avesta has experience using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Psychodynamic therapy. She also has experience using integrative approaches such as Schema therapy. Avesta receives regular supervision with Clinical and Counselling Psychologist, Tamara Licht Musso.
Avesta is empathetic and understands that individuals will need a therapy plan catered to their own specific needs. The initial session will allow Avesta to understand what the difficulties are and to develop a therapy plan which will focus on the issues you want to work on, allowing you to form a clear vision of the therapeutic journey. The initial assessment provides the opportunity for you to share what your experience has been and to feel heard in a safe and non-judgmental environment.
Avesta has a vast amount of experience working with victims of crime, after having worked with Victim Support. Avesta has experience working therapeutically with young children at Place2Be and can offer play therapy for children aged 7 years and older, offering them a safe exploratory space where they can begin to think about their experiences through their play. Avesta also has experience working with individuals who have had chronic psychological difficulties and experiences of childhood trauma.
Avesta believes in motivation, encouragement, and compassion as a big part of therapy and will help you to set achievable targets in sessions whilst working collaboratively with you to bring a positive change in your life.
Avesta is bilingual and can provide therapy in Dari/Farsi.
