Shireen Sultana is an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (accredited by BABCP), an accredited IPT Practitioner (accredited by Interpersonal Psychotherapy UK) and an experienced Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapist.
Shireen has been working in NHS mental health services for more than 15 years. She has been currently working in an NHS service as a Senior Therapist where she primarily provides supervision to clinicians, leads the group therapy pathway for the service and conductsmore complex assessments and treatment for clients
Shireen has a great deal of experience of working with people experiencing moderate to severe depressionand anxiety disorders such as adjustment disorders, panic and agoraphobia, specific phobia, health anxiety, social anxiety, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), chronic pain, Fibromyalgia, IBS and other long-term health conditions. She has a special in working with PTSD and Complex Trauma. She has individual and group therapy.
Although, CBT is her main modality of therapy Shireen is also trained in IPT for depression and EMDR for trauma and addictions. Shireen takes an integrative approach to therapy depending on the individual needs of the clients. She uses third wave CBT approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focus Therapy (CFT), Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) and Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET).People’s early life experiences contribute to the way they view themselves, others and the world. The main focus of CBT is on here-and-now, however CBT strategies can also help you to understand the link between your significant past experiences and re-scripting your memories which are still having an impact on you.
Shireen has vast experience of working with various services which have diversepopulation. Hence, she has a very good understanding of the psychological problems of the those communities and the cultural and religious issues and complexity associated with that as well as how to overcome those.
Shireen Sultana is available to Thursdays for clinical work and available for providing supervision. Skype sessions can be arranged other times.
