Psychological assessments and Report Writing (also available via Skype)
People require medico-legal reports for a variety of reasons. If, for example, someone has been badly affected by an accident, or workplace negligence, or whatever, it’s not sufficient for them to simply appear in court and state that they have been suffering since the event; they need an expert witness to testify as to the symptoms they are experiencing, and the impact on their lives. Explaining and condensing often very complex issues to a format that is easy to understand and access calls for a range of highly specialised skills and quality time and attention to detail and a range of professional tools, as well as a distinct balance between empathy and objectivity.
Because the range of psychological and psychiatric disorders that may be relevant to a law case, or in other legally demanding situations, is considerable, we can provide medical legal expert witnesses with a range of expertise, including psychiatrists, clinical psychologists (child and adult), counselling psychologists, educational psychologists, forensic psychologists, neuropsychologists and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapists. All are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), with the General Medical Council (GMC) and the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RcPsych). As well, a number of our expert witnesses are also accredited by Cardiff University Law School/Bond Solon as Expert Witnesses which allows them to produce the highest quality Expert Witness reports for the courts.
While medico legal reports are often required for court hearings, they might also be requested by schools or other institutions, or even for personal reasons.
Our lead Psychological Dr. Becky Spelman will communicate with your or your solicitor about your report requirements and will recommend a expert from our large panel of practitioners to carry out the work. Dr Spelman will ensure the expert is highly experienced in the areas relating to your case and has a vast amount of experience writing reports for court and giving evidence in court.
