She’s originally from California and trained to become a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist while she was living in the States. When she moved to London, she transferred her Marriage and Family Therapist License, her credentials, and all of her experience to the Health and Care Professions Council and they registered her as a Counselling Psychologist.
Andrea Sartor has over 15 years of study, evidence-based research, and clinical practice consulting clients of all ages with various needs and different backgrounds. She has been blessed with the opportunity of working as a therapist and a psychologist in two countries and spent the last three years living in Europe and working in London to build up her private practice.
She has lived in London for 3 1/2 years now and have spent the first two years working with inpatient and outpatient clients at The Priory hospital in North London and at the Priory Wellbeing Center on Fenchurch street in Central London.
She has also spent the last year branching out on her own and building up a successful private practice in various office locations in Central London.
Andrea Sartor’s practice was born from the desire to help people feel empowered, fulfilled, and joyful in their lives. She strives to help her clients find happiness through humor and positive thinking and she always meet them where they are and what they are working on. One of the most effective therapeutic models that she provides to her clients is Dialectic Behavioural Therapy.
DBT is a type of therapy that focuses on four vital areas of mental health. These areas include distress tolerance, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. She also incorporates creative therapeutic interventions using art and music to help my clients explore and strengthen their authentic selves so that they can create a life worth living.
Andrea Sartor specializes in treating adults and couples and I use an eclectic approach to assessment, diagnosis, and counselling. She has specialized training and experience in providing therapy from the following approaches: DBT, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), person-centered, gestalt, art, play, music, psychodynamic, narrative, ABA, emotionally focused, solution-focused, behavioral, attachment-based, and teaching mindfulness. She also has extensive experience in treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, phobia, OCD, personality disorders, eating disorders, neurological disorders, learning disabilities, trauma-related issues, and other complex mental health disorders.
She is registered with numerous professional bodies, including the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC, PYL 35436) and the Board of Behavioural Science of California (LMFT 103929). She went to school in Salt Lake City Utah and attended a private liberal arts college to earn her BSc degree in Psychology and then went to a private college to obtain a MSc degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. After college, Andrea Sartor moved to San Francisco California, and trained to become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
